The Pre-Operative Holding Area (POHA) is where we will prepare you for your surgery. You will be informed about what to expect before and after your procedure. Our goal is to minimize your anxiety by increasing your understanding of the details of your visit. Your vital signs, history and brief assessment are taken, and based on your doctor's orders or the criteria for your procedure, an intravenous (IV) line maybe started, pre-op medications given, EKG (if needed), and labs done. You will then meet with the Anesthesiologist, and if indicated a nerve block or regional anesthesia may be administered under conscious sedation.
