The Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) has two areas, Phase I and Phase II.

In Phase I you will be emerging from anesthesia. Unfortunately your family and friends are not able to visit this area during this time in order to respect the privacy and dignity of other patients in the unit.

We begin to address pain control, prevent and/or treat nausea, warming therapies such as the Bair Hugger, and provide a calm atmosphere as you awaken.

The Aldrete Scoring System is a tool that is used to evaluate your readiness to be move on to Phase II. When the scores are met you will be dressed, and moved to Phase II. At this time we will discuss with you your home care and pain management instructions.
